How To Choose A Wedding Dress

It finally happened, your partner proposed! After all the excitement and congratulations you are ready to dress shop, or are you? There are some vital things you need to do first before you go to a wedding store or online and start buying. If you want your wedding day to be perfect where you are comfortable in your wedding dress, then you need to do a few simple things.

-Before you go shopping with credit card in hand, you have to consider the space, location, and the weather, of your reception. You might not want a long tail wedding gown if the space you are renting will be small and intimate. You might also want to stay away from thick fabric if your wedding is outside and during the summer.

-Choose a budget. A wedding gown can be pretty and does not have to be as expensive as a brand new car. Remember, a wedding gown is worn only for one day; a marriage is till death do you part. You do not want you, your parents, or your future marital partner to be in debt before you even said your I do’s.

-Now that you have a place and budget for your wedding and wedding gown, it is time to make an appointment at a bridal store. Before you even go there, make sure to have some ideas of a dress that you want by looking online or through magazines.

-Sometimes it is hard to shop for a regular dress never mind a wedding dress, because we do not know what we look best in. For help in figuring out your body shape and what you should look for read What Shape Are You? For example, if you are a petite woman, look for A-line dresses with a waistline above your waist or underneath your chest. This will make your lover body appear longer.

-When you go to the bridal store, bring a friend or your mother or even your mother-in-law to help you decide which dress to purchase. If your mother or even mother-in-law is participating in your dress purchase money wise, they should be there for the experience and approval. Do not bring an entourage of people into the store because it will make your decision harder with so many different opinions.

-How do you know that you have the right dress on? The right wedding dress you will love with your head and heart. The right wedding dresses should go perfect with the reception area, your budget and you should feel absolutely beautiful.

-When you have your heart and mind set on a particular dress, make sure to do a last fitting before it is ordered. You need to give at least a month to six weeks for your dress to arrive sometimes more if the dress has intricate designs that are handmade.

-Choosing your hairstyle and accessories for the wedding go hand in hand and should be done during your first bridal shop visit. You can’t choose a veil or headpieces like a crown or special hair pins, if you do not know how it will work with your hair.

-Purchase your shoes in advanced. Make sure to wear your shoes around the house, walk them in so that they do not give you blisters on your wedding day. Most of the time, no one will see your shoes so look for comfort not styles.

-When you go for your final fitting or to pick up the dress, bring the person that will be putting the dress on for you with you. They should watch and learn how to do the loops, ties, or hooks on the dress. You do not want to be frustrated or annoyed on the day of your wedding so be prepared.

-Lastly, enjoy your wedding, the day where all the attention should be on you and your partner. Smile as much as you can, pose for everyone, and enjoy your perfect dress.
